Kitchen and bathroom showrooms, car dealerships, furniture and flooring retailers, garden centres, trade counters: these businesses sell mostly in person. A customer researches online, sometimes for weeks, and then visits. The job of search is to make sure the visit happens, and happens at your showroom rather than the one two miles away.
That changes what matters. Direction requests and phone calls count for more than form fills, and what the customer can see before they set off — stock, opening hours, parking — decides whether they make the trip.
What decides the visit
| Why it matters | |
|---|---|
| Opening hours, including weekends | Showroom visits cluster at weekends and evenings |
| What is actually on display | Customers travel to see something specific |
| Parking and access | A real barrier for large purchases and trade customers |
| Photographs of the showroom itself | Sets expectations and signals scale |
| Reviews mentioning the visit | Service in the showroom, not just the product |
| Direction requests | The most direct measure of intent to visit |
Show what is in stock
Customers searching for a specific product want to know whether they can see it before they travel. Showrooms that publish what is on display, and dealerships that keep stock listings current and indexable, capture searches that a generic “visit our showroom” page never will. Google can surface local stock directly in its results where the inventory is published in a form it can read.
Weekends are the whole week
A large share of showroom visits happen on Saturdays and Sundays, when searches for “open now” are at their highest. Opening hours that are wrong, or special hours not set for bank holidays, remove a showroom from those searches at exactly the moment demand peaks.
Measure visits, not sessions
Website traffic is a weak measure for a business that sells in person. Direction requests and calls from the Business Profile, and where possible visits attributed to search, say far more about whether the work is filling the showroom. We report those first.
